Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS)

I have spent 12 years running play sessions with kids. I buy the toys myself, hand them to real children, and write down what actually happens.

This site exists because the flying orb ball category is almost impossible to evaluate from listing photographs. Every product looks identical, every listing claims the same flight time, and the only thing that separates them is how a child behaves in the first ten minutes of holding one.

How we test

Each ball goes through the same sequence: an unboxing with no adult coaching, a timed first-successful-throw measurement with children who have never used one, an indoor session in a normal living room, an outdoor session, and a durability pass that includes the wall impacts and carpet landings that happen anyway. We record how long each ball holds attention across a week, which is the number that correlates best with whether a toy is still in use a month later.

How we handle money

We earn commission when you buy through our links, including as an Amazon Associate. Commission rates differ between products, and they are not used as an input to the ranking. Where a product cannot be verified — a price we cannot confirm, for example — we say so on the page rather than guessing.

Corrections

Prices and ratings change constantly. If you find something on this site that is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.
